Bastrop officials looking for missing 79-year-old man

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding a man who went missing Thursday night.

Ronald McCandless, 79, was on his way to Smithville from his residence in Caldwell County, according to BCSO.

His truck was found on FM 20 near FM 86 early Friday morning but he was not in it, the sheriff's office said.

Because of his age and the heat, BCSO believes McCandless may be in danger.
