The cost overruns of central government projects worth ₹150 crore and above decreased to 19.1% in August, compared to 19.5% in the previous month. A report revealed that out of 1,762 listed projects, the anticipated cost exceeded the original cost by ₹4.8 lakh crore. Additionally, 830 projects were delayed, with an average time overrun of 36.96 months. Railways had the highest cost overruns, while the roads ministry had 185 projects facing overrun.
