Fan-fave Rick Devens joins Jeff Probst for ‘On Fire: The Official Survivor Podcast’ Season 2 to voice ‘player’s point of view’

0

The second season of Jeff Probst‘s popular “On Fire: The Official Survivor Podcast” debuts on September 27 immediately following CBS’s 90-minute premiere of “Survivor 45.” And this time around, the podcast is adding a past contestant to give insights from “the player’s point of view.” That person is Rick Devens, the fan-fave finalist who came in fourth place back in “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” the 38th season that aired in Spring 2019.

Devens joins Probst and podcast producer Jay Wolff for weekly deep dives into the Emmy-winning reality TV series. Unlike other podcasts that simply offer recaps, “On Fire” is the ultimate “Survivor” companion that goes behind the scenes to reveal how and why certain aspects of the show came to be. “The inspiration for ‘On Fire’ was to give ‘Survivor’ fans an even deeper connection to their favorite show by taking them inside the making of ‘Survivor’ from the producer’s point of view,” Probst announced. “For Season 2, we’re really excited to have Rick Devens add the player’s point of view. Devens is a fan favorite for a reason, and he offers interesting insight into each episode. I think fans are going to really enjoy him on the podcast!”

In Season 38, Devens’ “Survivor” journey began as a member of the Manu tribe, but after a tribe switch to Lesu he was promptly voted out. Devens re-entered the game after winning the first-ever Edge of Extinction return competition and, along with the aid of a record four hidden immunity idols, he eventually made it to fourth place. He lost the Final 4 fire-making challenge to Chris Underwood, who then went on to win the game.

Something else to watch out for this year are never-before-seen “Survivor” scenes that will be released on the show’s official YouTube channel. Probst, Devens and Wolff will then provide context and commentary about the deleted clips exclusively on the “On Fire” podcast.

“Survivor 45” will introduce 18 castaways (one of whom is a returnee that was medically evacuated last year) that will start out on the Belo (blue), Lulu (yellow) and Reba (red) tribes. See Gold Derby’s tribe-by-tribe breakdown. Each week, one person will be voted off the island in Fiji until only the Sole Survivor remains to claim the $1 million grand prize.
