39 Cars For Le Mans Cup At Spa
The sixth race of the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place at Spa-Francorchamps this Saturday, with 39 cars on the latest edition of the entry list ahead of the weekend.
There have been multiple changes to the field since the teams left Motorland Aragon last month, in both the LMP3 and GT3 classes.
LMP3 features 28 cars, down from 29 in Spain. Missing are the #17 IDEC Sport and #30 Frikadelli Racing Ligiers. The latter is a late withdrawal, following the news that it is set to compete in this weekend’s NLS race at the Nürburgring with a brand new Ferrari 296 GT3.
Swiss-flagged Haegeli by T2 Racing has added to the field however, with a Duqueine M30 D08 for Pieder Decurtins and Brent Verheyen.
There are a handful of driver changes of note too. In the #9 Racing Spirit of Leman Ligier, Jean-Ludovic Foubert and Antoine Doquin are out, replaced by Christian Gisy and 1996 Le Mans 24 Hours GT2 class winner Ralf Kelleners.
At United Autosports, Gerald Kraut and Scott Andrews return after missing the race in Motorland due to clashing commitments elsewhere. For that meeting, the duo were replaced by Josh Caygill and Garnett Patterson in the #22 Ligier. Caygill has found a home elsewhere for this weekend though, joining Murphy Prototypes alongside Will Bratt.
There’s a change at Graff too, as Spaniard Xavier Lloveras is no longer listed alongside James Sweetnam. Instead, Samir Ben will take the wheel in the #39 JSP320.
GT3 remains 11 cars strong, though the field isn’t identical to the group that made the journey to Aragon.
The #70 Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini, which was listed on the initial provisional entry list for Spa, has since been taken off. Elsewhere though, the #63 Huracan from Italian outfit Iron Lynx returns this weekend, with Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Vincent Abril back for their fifth race together this season.
The Spa-Francorchamps Round of the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place on Saturday at 16:05 local time.
