MLB Cy Young Ladder 10.0: Gerrit Cole is closing on his first Cy Young award after coming so close before
Fans of the New York Yankees will not have fond memories of the 2023 season. At 76-76, the Yankees are at risk of finishing the year with their first losing record since 1992.
One bright spot, however, has been ace pitcher Gerrit Cole, who has been every bit as good as they were hoping when they signed him to a massive deal in 2019. The unfortunate part is his best season as a Yankee coming just as the rest of the team fell apart.
Nevertheless, for his efforts, Cole appears to have the AL Cy Young award close to locked up, and it’s a long time coming. Before last year, Cole had finished in the top five of Cy Young voting four straight years (five overall), including second-place finishes in 2019 and 2021. But in 2023, with less than two weeks left in the season, it’s hard to see anyone winning over him.
The National League award appears to be locked up too, with Blake Snell on track to win his second career Cy Young. Below is a look at the rest of the field, with odds from BetMGM.
