AN INTERIOR designer has shared her secret to making your kitchen look more expensive.
The tip involves making sure that your kitchen cabinets are designed and assembled a certain way – and that you avoid a specific type of cabinet door.
TikToker Chloe (@boxwoodavenue) is an interior designer who posts clips on home design and lifestyle and vlogs about her life.
Her bio reads that she is “infusing old-world beauty into modern-day life.”
The video opened with Chloe speaking directly to the camera.
She said: “As a luxury interior designer, one way that we make kitchens that we design look more expensive is by doing inset cabinetry.
“That means that the cabinet doors rest in the frame of the cabinet box, rather than on the face.”
As Chloe spoke, the video showed shots of a kitchen with cream-colored inset cabinets and a white and gray marbled backsplash.
A white farmhouse-style sink and some cups and crockery in muted, neutral tones completed the picture.
Each of the inset cabinet doors featured small, gold-colored knobs for handles.
Chloe continued: “We also very rarely go with the standard Shaker cabinet.
“Instead, we’ll add just a little detail to really elevate the cabinetry.”
The interior designer pointed to the cabinets behind her to demonstrate.
Each cabinet door featured an inset panel with raised edges, which Chloe said elevated the look.
They sat flush against their frame, with only the door handles protruding.
The influencer said: “Using these principles is going to make your kitchen design look more expensive.”
Viewers liked Chloe’s suggestions on elevating a kitchen, although many pointed out that this style of cabinet was more expensive than a more standard alternative.
