Postecoglou names the Spurs legend he would love to have in his team now
Ange Postecoglou may be getting the best out of his Tottenham Hotspur team right now, but the Australian has named a club legend as the one player he would love to have in his current squad.
Since arriving in North London this summer, Ange Postecoglou has had a profound impact on all areas of the club. The 58-year-old has given everyone, from the players to the fans, a fresh sense of positivity.
Results and performances on the pitch have matched this attitude, too. The Lilywhites are unbeaten in their first five league games and go into the weekend sitting in second place in the Premier League.
With this new, exciting approach to football, Postecoglou has given the fans something they have been craving for the last few years. Long gone are the conservative ways of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, and the new free-flowing style of play is working perfectly.
Postecoglou wishes he had Glenn Hoddle in his team
Things are going rather well, but Postecoglou does wish he had one more player among his ranks. When asked by Premier League Productions if there is any legend of the English game he could add to his team, Postecoglou opted for a Spurs hero.
He said: “I’ll pick a former Spurs player here in Glenn Hoddle. You know, I think every time he was on the ball something magical was going to happen, and I always liked those creative players.”
Hoddle made 490 appearances for the Lilywhites between 1974 and 1987, scoring 110 goals. He also won two FA Cups and a European Cup during his time with the club, and is described as the “fulcrum in midfield.”

He’s before my time, but everyone knows the impact Glenn Hoddle had on the club and the genius he possessed. The idea of that kind of player in this Postecoglou side is tantalising. Luckily, we have James Maddison, who can offer a similar kind of creative magic in the middle of the park.
