Several Saratoga city commissions are looking to fill vacancies. The Heritage Preservation Commission is accepting applications until Nov. 17, while the deadline to apply for the Parks and Recreation, Public Art, and Library and Community Engagement commissions is Dec. 31.

Saratoga residents can stay on top of city council happenings by subscribing to meeting previews and post-meeting summaries through the City of Saratoga’s Hamlet GovCenter at https://gov.myhamlet.com/ca/santa-clara-county/saratoga.

Conference on ‘Aging Well’
Saratoga Federated Church is hosting “Aging Well: Plan to Thrive,” a conference on how to maximize quality of life, on Saturday, Oct. 14. Keynote speaker is Diana Miller, the architect of the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Initiative in Silicon Valley. She will be followed by a panel of speakers who are experts in their fields of preventive health care, long-term fitness, nutrition and life-giving relationships.
All participants will receive a hardcover copy of the book “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity” by Peter Attia, MD. Additional resources including guides for longevity, joy, fulfillment and independence will be provided.
The conference is set for 2-5 p.m. at the Saratoga Foothill Club, 20399 Park Place. Registration is $15 at https://saratogafederated.org/aging-well-plan-to-thrive.
