‘Prince of Spanish Guitar’ hosts ‘Fiesta’ in Campbell

Benise and his Emmy-winning production are stopping at Campbell’s Heritage Theatre Oct. 8 as part of his global tour. Showcasing songs from his seventh PBS special , the “Prince of Spanish Guitar” will play Spanish flamenco, Cuban salsa, Brazilian samba and Parisian waltzes, as well as interpretations of classic rock anthems from Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. He’ll also put his signature touch on classics such as “Ave Maria, Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and Vivaldi’s “Summer” from “The Four Seasons.”
The concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Theatre, 1 W. Campbell Ave. Tickets are $49.50-$119 at https://www.campbellca.gov/heritagetheatre.
Quicksilver history lesson
Mike Cox will mine the geology of New Almaden Oct. 13 at the next History Happy Hour at Campbell’s Ainsley House.
The New Almaden Mine produced mercury beginning in 1845, making it California’s oldest mining operation. Quicksilver was the leading reduction agent for gold and silver until the discovery of the cyanide process. The mines at New Almaden produced more fortune than any California gold mine in history.
