Cremated remains card found in Marin during coastal cleanup
A card associated with someone’s cremated remains was found in Marin during the annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, according to the California Coastal Commission.
The card identified the person as being from North Carolina, and organizers speculated the card may have ended up in Marin after the person’s ashes were spread along the California Coast.
The cremation card was among the most unusual items found during the annual cleanup, which also included a small floppy disk. The volunteer who discovered the card earned a $100 prize.
The annual cleanup brought tens of thousands of volunteers to the coast and inland shoreline, collecting over 67 tons of trash and recyclable materials.
