Boris Johnson’s nanny was ‘sacked’ after she was seen ‘having drink with him’
The Johnsons’ former nanny claims she was fired after only three days on the job after allegedly being spotted having a glass of wine with the ex-PM.
Theresa Dawes, 59, from Zimbabwe, told The Mirror she is still owed thousands of pounds, adding the experience had been ‘a complete nightmare.’
Ms Dawes said in an interview with the paper she’d shared a single glass of rose with Boris Johnson to celebrate the birth of his son, Frank Alfred Odysseus, earlier this year while his wife Carrie was still recovering in hospital.
She reportedly believes Mrs Johnson’s mother Josephine witnessed the drink, which was the reason she was sacked after Mrs Johnson returned home.
Ms Dawes claims Mrs Johnson gave her just 15 minutes to pack her bags, and alleges she has since blocked her on WhatsApp.
Mr Johnson is said to have apologised to Ms Dawes, explaining Mrs Johnson was ‘hormonal’ and adding the situation was ‘out of his control.’
Ms Dawes is understood to be considering legal action against the couple to recoup the amount she claims she is owed for what would have been a three-month contract, in addition to severance pay.
She said: ‘I know he’s had three wives, however many kids. But I’m not interested, he’s not my type.
‘I don’t know if she felt threatened. I don’t know what she was thinking.
‘I was looking forward to helping out a family with their new arrival but I got caught in the middle of something else.
‘I’d only been there for three days and I didn’t even get to hold the baby. I wish I’d never got involved with them, it’s been a complete nightmare.
‘To be fair, it was quite a nice rose but it definitely wasn’t worth it.’
Ms Dawes added that meeting Mrs Johnson two weeks earlier, she’d mentioned a former employee had celebrated Mr Johnson being forced to resign in the wake of the Partygate scandal.
Recalling the moment she was allegedly fired, Ms Dawes said: ‘I walked into the nursery and she was holding the baby. She stood up and told me she didn’t think it was working and that we didn’t gel.
‘She said she didn’t like the comments I’d made about her husband, when I’d told her about the other family that didn’t like him.
‘I think that was an excuse. If she didn’t like it, why didn’t she do something two weeks earlier?’
A spokesperson for the Johnson family told The Mirror: ‘This account is totally untrue. It is disappointing to see someone who sought a position of trust abuse it to create a completely false story for financial gain.’
