EastEnders star Melissa Suffield hits back after she’s mum-shamed over ‘belly fat’ by dancing in her underwear
EASTENDERS star Melissa Suffield has hit back after getting an anonymous message from a mean mum-shamer.
The mum-of-one, 30, took to Instagram as she danced around confidently in her underwear as she displayed her unfiltered curves.
Melissa danced in a stunning matching black lace lingerie set as she clapped back at a troll who told her: “You cute but your belly fat isn’t”.
She responded: “Wrong, it’s cute as hell,” while showing off her curves.
In her caption, she wrote: “Actual DM I received from a faceless account (they’re always faceless, aren’t they? Or a car, or )
“Also, actual DM I laughed at, disregarded, and then carried on living my life in SPITE of.
“I’ve spoken a bit recently about our ‘mean inner voice, but sometimes our mean inner voice actually belongs to someone else, and it’s pretty out loud. And it can be really difficult to ignore or brush off.
“Fear of what others might say is a HUGE reason why we feel negatively about our own bodies.
“It’s why we avoid wearing certain outfits, speaking up, trying new things. The fear of being judged, laughed at, criticised.”
She continued: “Let me tell you- you start having a lot more fun once you start acting in spite of the fear. You acknowledge it, you spend your time with it, and then you say F*CK IT.
“Does a fear of what others might say about your body have an impact on your relationship with it?
“Share this reel if you’ve got a cute lil belly!”
Fans were quick to react to her video, with one posting: “I really can’t tell you how much I appreciate seeing a body like mine represented in a positive light like this. Thank you, so, so much.”
Another said: “You’re gorgeous!! They could NEVER be you babe! Keep slaying!”
“You’re a breath of fresh air,” a third gushed.
Melissa is often praised for advocating body positivity and encouraging women to love their curves.
Last month she posted a short clip of herself in green underwear shaking her body, with a big smile on her face.
She star wrote next to the clip: “13 seconds of a body wobbling, to remind you that a wobbly body is totally NORMAL…”
The actress played Lucy on BBC soap EastEnders during the character’s rebellious teenage years, making on-screen dad Ian Beale’s life hell.
But in 2020 she left the soap after it was reported that bosses weren’t impressed with her off-screen behaviour and attitude outside work.
Since leaving the soap, Melissa is now focusing on being a body-positive parenting Influencer.
