The Taliban is reportedly planning to create a large-scale camera surveillance network in Afghan cities, potentially using a plan developed by the US before its withdrawal in 2021. The Taliban has also consulted with Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei about potential cooperation. The aim of the surveillance network is to prevent attacks by international militant groups, including Islamic State.
