BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent gasps as Jon Kay takes swipe at celebrity guest after lookalike jibe
BBC BREAKFAST’s Sally Nugent was left gasping before Jon Kay took a swipe at a celeb guest following a lookalike jab.
The two presenters were back together on the red sofa this morning following a string of hosting shake-ups last week.
During the show the pair discussed how Jon, 53, had a French lookalike.
He appeared to be spotted at King Charles‘ state visit to France, as the King spoke in French while taking part in a grand event at the Palace of Versailles.
There was an unknown individual in the video who looked almost identical to Jon.
The presenter had poked fun at himself on social media when he saw the uncanny footage.
But he was left red-faced when Ade Edmondson said he looked more like Penfold, the hamster sidekick of cartoon character Danger Mouse.
Sally put down her cup of coffee and gasped as Jon struggled to find words in the good-natured exchange.
Jon then replied to him: “Thank you, Ade. Penfold.”
He added: “I was going to be very nice about your book but I’m not now.”
BBC Breakfast viewers took to social media to comment on the hilarious exchange.
One said: “Ouch, John’s not happy about that one…”
A second posted: “#BBCBreakfast cringe factor.”
While a third wrote: “Breakfast telly with Sally Nugent and Penfold.”
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer.
