The Supreme Court has ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to appoint a senior IPS officer to investigate a case in which a school boy was allegedly slapped by his classmates on the instruction of his teacher in Muzaffarnagar. The court has deemed the incident as serious and has asked the government to provide counseling to the victim and other students involved.
