Which Hill Democrats have called on Bob Menendez to resign following his federal indictment? A running congressional count.

0

It's been mainly Democratic House members who've called on Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) to resign following his latest federal indictment on bribery and other charges, while most Democratic senators have stopped short of calling for his exit. Here's a running count:

Democratic House members

New Jersey: Mikie Sherrill, Bill Pascrell, Frank Pallone, Donald Norcross, Andy Kim and Josh Gottheimer (Bonnie Watson Coleman, in a statement, said she hoped Menendez would "make the right decision.")
New York: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Minnesota: Dean Phillips
Illinois: Sean Casten
Massachusetts: Seth Moulton
Michigan: Elissa Slotkin
Pennsylvania: Summer Lee and Madeleine Dean
California: Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell and Katie Porter
North Carolina: Jeff Jackson
Virginia: Don Beyer and Abigail Spanberger

Democratic senators

John Fetterman (D-Pa.): "Senator Menendez should resign. He’s entitled to the presumption of innocence under our system, but he is not entitled to continue to wield influence over national policy, especially given the serious and specific nature of the allegations. I hope he chooses an honorable exit and focuses on his trial.”

Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) became the second in a terse Monday statement: “Senator Menendez has broken the public trust and should resign from the U.S. Senate.”

Notably, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) has yet to weigh in on the charges facing his state's senior senator.
