CT man found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor ‘multiple times’
An East Hartford man faces sentencing in November after being found guilty of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor charges, according to state authorities.
Asbel Rivera, 46, of East Hartford, was recently found guilty by a jury on the charges of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to Hartford State’s Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott.
Authorities, citing the evidence introduced at his trial, said Rivera had “sexually assaulted a minor multiple times between the years of 2011 and 2018.”
The victim “later disclosed the sexual assaults to a boyfriend and her boyfriend’s mother, who helped the victim report the sexual assaults to police,” authorities said.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Robin D. Krawczyk with the assistance of Inspector Joseph Buyak, authorities said.
Rivera is scheduled to be sentenced for Nov. 14, 2023 at Hartford Superior Court.
