Burglar steals $5K painting in smash-and-grab from NYC gallery: cops

The crook broke the glass front door of the family-owned Carlton Fine Arts gallery on Madison Avenue near East 55th Street around 2:15 a.m. and grabbed the valuable piece that was displayed on a wooden easel, authorities and sources said.
