NITI Aayog, the policy think tank of the Indian government, will evaluate the National Food Security Act and LPG subsidy to ensure efficient spending and prevent leakage. The evaluation will assess the effectiveness of the schemes, which cost the government nearly Rs 4,00,00 crore annually. Despite the significant expenditure, India still faces challenges in achieving food security and nutritional outcomes, contributing to approximately 30% of the global hunger burden.
