Achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C is still possible, but it has become more challenging, says the International Energy Agency (IEA). The IEA's updated report to the 2021 Net-Zero Roadmap states that meeting these goals will require tripling renewable energy capacities to 11,000 GW by 2030 and increasing annual investment in clean energy to $4.5 trillion by the early 2030s.
