Former Glastonbury police officer wanted in CT charged as fugitive in New Jersey

0

A former Glastonbury police officer wanted in Connecticut has been arrested in New Jersey as a fugitive.

Connecticut State Police said Tuesday that Patrick Hemingway, 37, was charged as a fugitive from justice during an arrest in New Jersey. He remains held in custody.

State police said they hold a warrant for his arrest that will be served once Hemingway is extradited back to Connecticut. It is unclear when that is expected to happen.

State police on Tuesday did not divulge any information about the warrant they hold, including the charges.

Hemingway’s arrest comes as Lt. Kevin Szydlo of the Glastonbury Police Department said last week the department was “alerted to the possibility” that one of its former officers was a “person of interest” in a recent burglary investigation involving multiple jurisdictions. Szydlo did not identify the former officer at the time or release any additional information on the nature of the burglary investigation, which was assisted by state police.

State police on Tuesday said they were unable to comment on Hemmingway’s former employment status with Glastonbury police, as the agency does not “maintain employment records relative to members of the Glastonbury Police Department.”
