Tamil Nadu has stated that the Supreme Court's verdict on releasing Cauvery river water should be binding, despite protests in Karnataka. The state government of Karnataka is continuing to release water to Tamil Nadu, despite protests in its capital city Bengaluru. Tamil Nadu's Water Resources Minister, Duraimurugan, emphasized the importance of cooperative federalism and the need for the executive and legislature to follow the judiciary. Duraimurugan also mentioned that the judiciary should address opposition to its verdicts. Tamil Nadu has so far received 7,000 cusecs of water from Karnataka and is expecting to receive the full quantum soon.
