Rick Owens’ Converse Weapon Returns in a Versatile Beige and Black Combo

Rick Owens’ partnership with Converse is set to continue with a new colorway of the DRKSHDW TURBOWPN that’s less goth but no less of a beast.

The bulked-up Weapon remix, which debuted in 2021, returns in a beige and black color combo that should prove versatile enough for a wide range of styling. Smooth beige leather makes up the majority of the upper, with the inset logos and the Weapon’s signature Y-bar appearing in a pebbled black leather. The darker shade then makes appearances on the branded tongue patch and tongue lining, with the rest of the sneaker taking on the lighter hue.

Converse has overseen a multi-pronged revival for the Weapon, an archival basketball model from the ’80s, over the past two years. 2021 saw the model brought back and remastered with modern technology as the Weapon CX, in addition to a more fashionable take on the silhouette created by Rick Owens and dubbed the DRKSHDW TURBOWPN. This year, Converse has slowly began to rollout the Weapon in its original shape through collaborations with Fragment and Undefeated.

Owens’ version features a hefty platform sole, premium materials, and a tongue that shoots up well past where it’s needed. This writer weighed it once, and it came in even heavier than the Balenciaga Triple S, a certified behemoth in its own right.

The latest Rick Owens x Converse DRKSHDW TURBOWPN will release Oct. 3 through Nike’s SNKRS app and select additional retailers. Pricing will be set at $200.
