Mum shares shocking warning as to why you should ALWAYS wash balloons before blowing them up

BALLOONS are a staple of everything from kids’ parties to weddings, and they instantly make any room look a bit more fun.

And most people don’t even think twice before sticking one in their mouth that they’ve taken straight from the packet.

But one mum has recently astounded viewers by showing them why they should always make sure to wash the products before they put them anywhere near their faces.

Danielle Beardon is a proud mumfluencer who regularly shares outfits and advice with her 80k TikTok followers.

And her recent clip demonstrating why she always soaks balloons in hot soapy water racked up a whopping 846k views.

“This is your sign to wash your balloons before you put them in your mouth to blow them up,” she wrote alongside her clip, accompanied by a row of sick emojis

She then showed a tub of pastel balloons she was washing, pointing out that the water had gone a disgusting grubby grey colour.

All that dirt had clearly been lingering on the plastic – handy to keep in mind before you next start blowing one up.

“There’s no way,” an astounded Danielle wrote in the caption, clearly astounded by her own findings.

But some viewers were rather lax about her gross findings.

“It makes them taste good,” one user joked.

“Who has time for that?” another questioned. “Still alive after all these years,” another laughed.

“But you’re washing off the powder that allows friction and them to blow up without popping,” another pointed out.

The internet seems pretty divided on the issue, although there is some concerns that washing the talc off will make it more likely that they’ll pop while you’re inflating them.

So perhaps your best bet, as one user added, is just to “use a pump”.

And of course, always remember to deflate or pop each balloon carefully after you’ve finished with it, because if kids or animals ingest the plastic it can be harmful.
