Strictly fans slam sped up version of Beyonce’s Single Ladies as they accuse band of ‘massacring’ song
STRICTLY Come Dancing fans’ ears were bleeding tonight as Nikita Kanda performed her Charleston in the dance-off.
The house band had the unenviable task of producing a sped up version of the iconic Beyoncé track Single Ladies and, for some, it fell painfully short of the original.
One disgruntled viewer wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Beyonce would be spinning in her grave if she were dead and she could hear that speeded up version of all the single ladies…”
Another said: “Aside from murdering Beyoncé the dance off didn’t go smoothly for Nikita there.
A third posted: “Reckon they play this sped up #Strictly band version of Beyoncé’s Single Ladies as you descend down into hell. Horrific.”
Another complained: “We have to endure this massacre of the song again as well.”
While a fifth said: “Did they do the dirty on Nikita tho with the speed of the song – its RI-DIC-ULOUSLY fast – don’t think even Beyonce could keep up with that!!”
Others clamoured for the return of Fleur East, Laura Mvula and Beverley Knight who opened the show with a magnificent tribute to the late Tina Turner featuring hits Nut Bush City Limits and Proud Mary.
When it came to the dance-off, Nikita went head to head with Les Dennis as the two lowest scoring celebs fought to make it to Movie Week.
It was radio DJ Nikita who succeeded, winning a unanimous vote from the judges.
An emotional Les said afterwards: “I’ve had the best time. This lady [Nancy] has been amazing, a great teacher. She’s really put me through my paces…”
He added: “I really appreciate and understand the judges point of view, absolutely.
“I hope I’ve entertained, that’s what I came here for.”
He finished by thanking hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman and the rest of the Strictly team.
