I’ve given my council house a mega cheap, chic transformation…I get the same rude comment from trolls, but won’t listen
A WOMAN has revealed that she has given her council house the ultimate cheap, chic transformation.
Celene Francis, 25, explained she gave her home a mega makeover, using budget buys from Amazon, B&M, The Range and Home Bargains.
However, mean trolls all came at the DIY whizz with the same nasty comment – rudely suggesting that she shouldn’t be living in a council property if she has the money to decorate it.
In a short clip posted on social media, Celene shared how her home looked prior to its epic overhaul.
The walls were peeling and the floor a mess, with the space in desperate need of some TLC.
Shortly after, the young woman then posted a series of clips of her beautiful home, after her DIY project.
She said: “POV: You live in a council house but love interior design.”
The DIY whizz then showed off her stunning home – a bedroom with panelled walls, beautiful furnishings and a marble bathroom of dreams.
Her home is extremely on trend – with black radiators, pampas grass, boucle cushions and beige vases.
Celene later explained that she nabbed bargain buys from the high street to decorate her home.
She revealed that she bought her lamp from Ikea and her bedding and shelves from B&M.
Not only this, but to keep the costs down, she also ordered her picture lights and her decorative books from Amazon.
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @61thecouncilhouse, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up a whopping 406,600 views in just seven days.
But social media users were left divided at Celene’s clip – while some praised her stunning home, nasty trolls weren’t as complimentary.
One person said: “That’s beautiful.”
Another added: “Looks amazing.”
A third commented: “Gorgeous home, very beautiful, minimal and chic.”
However, at the same time, mean keyboard warriors came at Celene with the same response.
One user wrote: “If you’ve got money to decorate so nicely, surely the home is better afforded to someone worse off than you.”
A second asked: “Can’t quite understand why you’d be living in council housing when you can afford to do it up like this?”
Someone else claimed: “Can clearly afford to rent privately but would rather live in a council house hmmm.”
Meanwhile, one TikTok user rudely remarked: “Course you can do your house up nice when you hardly pay f**k all for it.”
Whilst another questioned: “So I paid for this?” to which Celene replied “Obviously not!”
However, Celene previously told Fabulous: “I have people say ‘it’s a waste of money’ all the time, but I just think, it’s my home. If you lived in private rental you would still go and buy the cushions you want and the accessories you want.
“Sometimes people have the perception that if you live in a council home then you can’t have it nice, but you can.
“I just think it’s their opinion and I’ll leave them to it. I don’t say anything back.
“If anything, I think it’s more people not knowing how council properties work and people thinking that ‘if you live in a council house then you don’t work’, but that’s really not how it works.
“People are easy to judge and just don’t understand how it works.
“I just think – why not make it your own if you’re going to stay there?”
