I’m a PT and this is what your gym clothes says about you… so are you a muscle mommy or Regina from Mean Girls?
A PERSONAL trainer has spoken out on what your gym outfit says about you as a person.
Alexis Metz often uses her social media to share her workouts, gym knowledge as well as skits for her followers.
And in a series, she pinpointed exactly what kind of person you must be based on everything from the brand you wear to the type of clothes you don to the gym.
In the first video around this, she shared a photo of a woman wearing Fabletics leggings, explaining that if you wear this you’ve probably been working out for “a decent amount of time”.
“Now you’re rewarding yourself with a solid pair of leggings,” she continued. “And you probably had to scrape up just enough money to be able to buy a pair of these…
“Or you just waited until they had a huge sale. You’re looking for practical and affordable, which is how you do all of your shopping.”
“In the gym, you go to classes every once in a while and you love hit training – you always stay in the outskirts of the gym, you will never be found in the middle where the free weight section is,” she added.
In a second video, she posted a photo of a woman dressed in a brown leopard print pair of leggings with a matching sports bra by brands AYBL and NVGTN.
If you wear this, “you mean business” and view the gym as “me time” and want to “get a lot stronger”.
She said you probably want to have “amazing legs” too and will probably do leg day several times a week.
In her third video on the topic, she spoke out about those who wear Gymshark as she shared a picture of a woman in an all pink outfit.
“You’re all going to hate me for this video, but I’m just speaking from personal experience…” she said.
“Let’s just say that if the movie Mean Girls was set in a gym setting, then Regina George would definitely be wearing Gymshark.
“The girls who strut Gymshark are so beautiful and have such a nice physique, but they know it. And that can come across as extremely rude or extremely confident.
“I guess you just have to get to know the person to figure out what that is.”
TikTok user @alexismetzpt added that this gym-goer will never make eye contact with you and they want to be fitness influencers “really bad”.
Next up, she tackled women who wear Lululemon, which she said means “you have money”.
“You’re the type of girl who always had her nails done,” she continued. “You do not have a Peloton, you have definitely considered buying one.
“You do like working out, but you like working out whenever it’s a small group of people. For instance yoga, spin class (but it has to be a smaller class) or you’ll do a Pilates class.
“And you’re very likely to hire a personal trainer and for some reason you’ll never do a HIIT class.”
And in part six, she shared a photo of a woman wearing short shorts and a crop top.
“If you’re strutting this fit in the gym your life goal is to be a muscle mommy,” she said. “You’re always going to be in the short shorts, never the leggings.
“Because why would you cover up your quad and hamstring gains?”
She continued: “You’ve been lifting for years and it started off as just something to do because you wanted to get a little more fit.
“But then you got addicted. The gym is not a social outlet for you, but at the same time everybody knows who you are because you’re there six days a week for multiple hours.
“The gym is basically another full time job for you.”
People were quick to comment on these videos as one person wrote: “Im a gymshark Girl and I always seem so mean but Im such a kind Person and im so sorry,” followed by a crying emoji.
Another said: “This is exactly me,” to the muscle mommy video.
People were less in line with her assessment of Lululemon girls as one person said: “I am a lulu pants only girl. I wish all companies made tall workout pants!!”
Another shared: “I have lululemon and I dont have Money, I buy in the sale and do crossfit can’t always judge a person by their clothes!”
While a third added: “Lulu girl here. Personal trainer and working out alone. Only brand that makes pants high waisted and long enough”.
And speaking of the Fabletics video, one person added: “Or you got sucked in and created a subscription account a year ago and keep forgetting to cancel it”.
