Turkish Military strikes Kurdish hideouts after Ankara attack

0

On Monday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that it had destroyed 20 Kurdish insurgent hideouts in an airstrike operation in northern Iraq.

This operation was carried out in response to a suicide attack near the Ministry of Interior in Ankara, which the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) claimed responsibility for.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party claimed responsibility for this attack, in which two attackers were killed. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party is a separatist Kurdish party engaged in armed conflict against the Turkish government.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has been conducting military activities against the Turkish government to establish an independent Kurdish state since 1984.

This semi-militant group is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.

The Turkish military stated that it had targeted the “terrorist dens” in the
Hakurk, Qandil, and Gara regions of northern Iraq.

In a press release, the Turkish Ministry of Defense stated that “the aerial operation was carried out to eliminate terrorist attacks against the people of northern Iraq and to suppress the PKK and other terrorist elements in the Hakurk, Qandil, and Gara regions.”

The Turkish Ministry of Defense added, “This battle will not end until there is a terrorist left.” The ministry did not provide details regarding human casualties resulting from its airstrike operation.
