LAGOS PILGRIMS AT GADARA, OFFER PRAYERS FOR NIGERIAN LEADERS 

Following the celebration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary yesterday, October 1, 2023, Lagos pilgrims who are presently observing the pilgrimage journey in the Holy Land of Jordan, seized the opportunity of the spiritual exercise to offer prayers for Nigeria. 

While at Gadara, the site where Jesus Christ performed the miracle of deliverance on the possessed man at Gadara (Mark 5:1-20), the pilgrims prayed for divine intervention and healing for Nigeria. 

The pilgrims specifically offered prayers for Nigeria’s President, H.E Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the true spirit of administration and divine wisdom to rule with the fear of God in line with the yearnings of the citizenry. 

During a short exhortation in Gadara, a Nigerian Cleric who is also one of the pilgrims, Pastor Adewole David, said that although Nigeria is facing some challenges at the moment. There is a need to be prayerful to overcome all challenges.

“We must love our country more and pray for peace to reign so that it becomes more prosperous. As the Bible had admonished us that we should seek and pray for the good of Jerusalem so that we can all continue to prosper and make our country better through the Mighty Hand of God”, the Pastor added.

According to him, Nigeria carries the glory of God, hence the need for prayers that God should strengthen Nigerian leaders and elevate the country to a path of peace, harmony, and prosperity. 

Before the stop-over at Gadara, the Lagos State pilgrims had earlier visited the Jabbok River where Jacob wrestled with the angel and crossed the ford of the Jabbok with his family and two female servants. 

The tour of biblical historical sites by the pilgrims for Day Two in Jordan terminated at the Tall Mar Elias, a historical site attributed to the prophet Elijah as recorded in 2 Kings 17:1, being the location where Elijah ascended to Heaven in a chariot of fire.
