Wallingford police arrest teen in connection with burglary spree

Police have charged a teenager in connection with a series of burglaries in Wallingford where suspects targeted ATM machines and vehicles.

Collin Howard, 19, faces four counts each of third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and multiple larceny-related offenses, the Wallingford Police Department said Wednesday.

According to police, Howard and his associates committed burglaries at Rivas Taqueria on March 7, Empire Wine and Liquor on May 20 and at George Harte Infiniti on March 16 and June 28.

Wallingford police said Howard was linked to the burglaries through multiple search warrants, cell tower records, witness statements and surveillance video. The investigation involved multiple state and federal agencies, including the North Haven Police Department and the Waterbury Police Department.

Wallingford police said Howard was held on $450,000 bond following his arrest Sept. 22. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 6.

No other suspects have been charged, police said.
