Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in Hartford

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Hartford on Thursday night, police said.

Officers were called to Hamilton Street just east of Hillside Avenue around 11:39 p.m. on a report of a serious motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash, according to the Hartford Police Department.

As officers arrived, they located a 34-year-old man, identified as Omar Espinal of Hartford, who was suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle that had fled the scene, police said.

Espinal was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division has assumed the investigation.
