Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the establishment of a central tribal university in Mulugu district, Telangana. The university will be named after the adivasi goddesses Sammakka-Sarakka and will receive a funding of Rs 900 crore from the government. This announcement is politically significant as the constituency where the university will be located was won by Congress in the 2018 assembly election. Additionally, Modi has made various announcements focusing on tribal welfare ahead of the upcoming elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana, where tribal votes hold importance.
