Milford police charge man in takeover involving about 300 dirt bikes, ATVs and motorcycles
A New Haven man has been charged in connection with a street takeover in Milford over the summer involving about 300 ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles.
Kendall Rose, 31, turned himself in Thursday on charges of reckless driving, improper signal, failure to drive right, driving on the sidewalk and operating without a license, according to the Milford Police Department. He posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Milford Superior Court on Nov. 9.
According to police, Rose has been charged in connection with a street takeover on July 8 at about 7 p.m. when about 300 motorists on dirt bikes, ATVs and motorcycles drove through Milford, causing traffic delays and committing motor vehicle violations.
The operator of one of the dirt bikes, who police say they later identified as Rose, was seen driving on Boston Post Road near the Interstate 95 North on-ramp where he came up on the driver’s side of a police cruiser in the left lane that branches off westbound onto Cherry Street, according to police.
Rose then passed in front of the cruiser and continued driving recklessly, changing lanes and driving in the breakdown lane, while also passing other motorists without using a turn signal, police said. He then allegedly drove onto the grass median that separates the I-95 entrance and exit ramps before driving off the exit ramp and turning right on the sidewalk near the Athenian Diner, police said. Rose then allegedly continued heading west on the sidewalk, according to police.
Police said their investigation into the takeover led them to identify Rose as the operator of the dirt bike before obtaining a warrant for his arrest.
