Optimum Reveals First Asian Le Mans Line-Up
Optimum Motorsport has revealed its first driver line-up for the 2023/24 Asian Le Mans Series season. Team regular Sam De Haan will be joined by McLaren factory driver Tom Gamble and current British GT Championship GT3 leader James Cottingham.
The trio are signed up for the full five-race season and will compete in one of Optimum’s two McLaren 720S GT3 EVOs. Their aim is to fight for the overall GT title and earn a Le Mans 24 Hours invite.
De Haan and Gamble are no strangers to the championship. De Haan has a single season under his belt in 2022 with TF Sport, while Gamble has four campaigns on his CV will embark on his fifth consecutive season in the series as part of this effort.
For Cottingham, although his first venture into the series, he will head to Asia fresh from a hugely impressive British GT season in the GT3 category, having helped 2 Seas claim the the Teams’ title and currently leads the drivers’ standings in the 2023 Intelligent Money British GT championship.
For the season, the trio will drive Optimum’s #69 chassis. The usual Red Zebra look takes a well-earned break during the winter months and is swapped out for a striking matte yellow and dark green livery designed by Sean Bull.
“It’s great to be back in the Asian Le Mans Series,” Shaun Goff, the team principal of Optimum Motorsport said.
“We’ve had great success out in the Middle East in recent years, earning the Le Mans invitation back in 2021, and again in 2022 by winning the championship, so we’re ready to hit the ground running again this time around.”
