India has chosen American company Cummins to supply engines for indigenous light tanks, aimed at countering Chinese deployments in high altitudes. The project, named Project Zorawar, was initially delayed when a German firm failed to reach an agreement for engine supply. The Indian Army estimates the need for 354 light tanks in Ladakh, with Larsen and Toubro and the Defence Research and Development Organisation set to produce 59 of them.
