DeSantis’ Fishy Migrant Flight Official Has Quietly Resigned
We at C&L have written repeatedly about Ron DeSantis’ shady migrant flights that flew migrants at the border, thousands of miles away from DeSantis’ state of Florida, and dumped them in blue states. Friday it was revealed that Larry Keefe, Ron DeSantis’ former public safety czar in charge of the program, had quietly resigned last month.
MeidasTouch’s Ron Flipkowski nicely summed up Keefe’s dodgy tenure in his post on the resignation:
Keefe became embroiled in controversy after he orchestrated the migrant flights last September using a private vendor using secretive methods that clearly violated Florida's open government laws.
Keefe made arrangements with Vertol Systems Company to transport migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard. Everything was done in secret with no notice whatsoever to the public. Keefe also attempted to hide the funding for the flights since they likely violated the provision that allocated funds to fly migrants from Florida, not Texas.
