The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 18th October) Leeds firm favourites for Carrow Road test

0

Good Morning. It's Wednesday 18th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Leeds firm favourites for Carrow Road test

Looking ahead of Leeds Utd's visit to Carrow Road this weekend, leading bookmakers Bet365 have tipped the Whites to return from East Anglia with maximum points.

It will be the first time Daniel Farke and Edmund Riemer (his assistant) return to their old stomping ground, since being sacked almost two years ago. They plummeted to the Championship, soon after the German left, and finished a lowly 13th, back in the Championship last season.

Leeds are 5/4 favourites for the win, whilst anyone brave enough to bet on the home side can triple their money (2/1). The draw is good value at 5/2. Piroe, Bamford and Rutter are favourites to get on the score sheet at 7/4, 15/8 and 9/4 respectively, whilst Pascal Struijk (already with three goals) is a good value bet at 11/1.

Former players set to face off

To add more spice to the highly anticipated trip to Carrow Road, Sam Byram and Adam Forshaw face off against their former clubs.

As we know Byram started his career at Leeds, joining the Thorp Arch academy at the age of eleven. Seven years later, he would make his debut against Shrewsbury Town in the league Cup after impressing Neil Warnock in pre-season. He went on to make 132 appearances for the Whites, scoring nine times.

He left Leeds to join West Ham in 2016, but after an unsuccessful spell was snapped up by Daniel Farke at Norwich in 2019. Soon after Farke arrived at Elland Road, the two were reunited.

Similarly Adam Forshaw made the switch in the other direction this Summer. The midfielder showed plenty of promise for the Whites, but was hampered by injury throughout his five year stay. David Wagner snapped up the 32yo during the Summer on a one year deal after being released by Leeds, but has failed to impress.

To date, he has completed 127 minutes of game time (three appearances, one start) and has a 'Whoscored' rating of just 6.27.

Gray could be rested after intense International break

Leeds Manager Daniel Farke has a tough decision to be made ahead of Saturdays clash at Carrow Road. 17yo sensation Archie Gray has been out on International Duty with England's U19's where he started, and finished all three fixtures for Simon Rusk's Three Lions. This means, over the space of thirteen days, he has played five matches, and over 450 minutes of game time.

Farke had been quite vocal before the International break, making his thoughts quite clear that Gray shouldn't be over-used, but his wishes fell on deaf ears. He will return to Thorp Arch where Rob Price (Leeds head of Medicine and Performance) and his team will assess the youngster, and perhaps allow him some rest time.
