State drops sex-assault case involving MMA fighter Conor McGregor
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office said Wednesday it won’t charge mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor with a crime from an alleged June incident in a bathroom at the Kesaya Center after a Miami Heat NBA Finals game.
Why the case was dropped isn’t immediately known. Assistant Miami-Dade State Attorney Keisha Jackson said that since the case “was dropped,” her office was working on sending the Miami Herald a close-out memo. It also wasn’t clear if the woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted had filed a lawsuit or was seeking monetary damages.
In June, the woman who was never named, told police that shortly after Game 4 ended, McGregor — who she had spent time with in a VIP lounge during the game — “aggressively” kissed her, “shoved his tongue” down her throat and forced her to have oral sex with her inside the bathroom as security guards blocked the public from the entrance.
