Top 5 Moments of Episode 4:

1. Lulu in Mourning: If there was ever a time for a tribe swap, it was in this episode as Lulu has really been going through a rough patch (to put it nicely). The mood at Lulu after that blindside was somber to say the least as Sean was very jealous and annoyed by the elimination of Sabiyah Broderick, whose ego really bit her in the butt last week. Emily Flippen was not buying his apology tour and honestly that is a great sign of awareness.

2. New Places and New Faces: Everyone greeted Jeff with smiling faces, with the exception of Lulu, which prompted the other tribes to wonder what is exactly in the water over there. Jeff provided a lifeline of sorts with a tribe swap as everyone picked new buffs, giving the remaining Lulu members a better chance at sticking around as they are toxic together. When the new tribes emerged from the swap, four former Belo members were off to Lulu to join Kaleb Gebrewold, four Reba members with a former Lulu member on the new Reba, and Belo with a nice mix of all three tribes. Somehow everyone took this step in stride and off they went to their new camps to alter their games completely once more in most cases.

3. New Connections and Lack Thereof: Bruce Perreault returned to the Lulu beach where his journey ended last season, which was initially unsettling but he got over that shock. Jake O’Kane bonded with Kaleb as he really can care less about Belo strong and he is a good swimmer. Cue maniacal laughter. Katurah Topps planted seeds of doubt about Bruce in Kaleb’s head immediately as she really seems to hate him for a petty reason. Kaleb lived for this information and was no longer thirsty as his quest for tea was quenched. At Belo, Emily was blown away, which was nice to see as she really needed a dose of happiness and fire. Austin Li Coon was especially happy to see some new faces and Drew Basile seemed to really gel with Emily, who he correctly singled out as a swing vote. She was very aware of this as well and felt more comfortable than ever before. The new Reba started off promising and Sean was more than ready to spill the tea and find cracks to widen in the group. The former Reba members still said they were Reba strong and even attempted to go into Sean’s bag as they struggled with knots for a little bit. In short, the most ridiculous moment of the season so far. Janani “J. Maya” Krishnan-Jha played both sides after trying to make a connection with Sean. In other news, Nicholas “Sifu” Alsup continued being the strangest member of the season…so far.

4. Immunity Time: For maybe the first time this season, Lulu had a shot at winning immunity, which is a statement I thought I would never utter. This was the most difficult challenge of the season and each tribe really gave 110% with Reba struggling the most. Lulu won immunity for the very first time breaking the streak of bad luck with Belo shortly after sending Reba to tribal council for the first time and the fourth time for Sean, ensuring one familiar face there for the viewers. Added bonus, Bruce messed with the minds of the Lulu tribe upon the return to camp by pretending to lose the flint.

5. Tribal Council Newbies Learn the Ropes: Sean was shocked to lose, which really struck me as odd as he really must have not been paying attention at the challenge. This Tribal Council veteran was definitely freaked out and promised to be a number even if the tribe was sticking to the Reba strong mantra. Sifu was worried that he could be targeted and J. Maya was indeed targeting him. Dianelys “Dee” Valladares seemed down to vote him out as well but Julie Alley was skeptical and forced into a corner. I love nothing more than a blindside so this prospect was more than exciting for a group of newbies to elimination and Sean, who seemingly enjoys being at Tribal Council. Watching newcomers get torches for the first time is always fun but Jeff quickly jumped into the dynamics and the fact that the numbers were against Sean. “Point made but can you be a veggie burger or a pizza?” said his tribemates that secretly were aiming at one of their own. Sean also opened up about his past, which was eye opening and explained why he is able to be as sneaky as he is and lack self-confidence. Sean then asked to be voted out, throwing everyone for a loop. For anyone counting, that’s the second time this has happened so far but a vote occurred anyway. In the end, his wish was their command.
