A cease-fire would be appeasement | Letters to the editor

0

Israel is a tiny country surrounded by enemies seeking to destroy her. It must destroy Hamas as America and Great Britain had to destroy the Nazis. No international force can protect Israel’s vulnerable borders, which are bombarded by Hezbollah despite the presence of U.N. forces.

Iran, with its money and proxies through Hamas, orchestrated the greatest one-day barbarism against the Jewish people since the Roman destruction of Judea in the years 66-70.

Hamas’ brutal regime could not care for its own civilian population since Israel left Gaza in 2005. Hamas commits war crimes by launching missiles into civilian areas of Israel. You have lost sight of this. Hamas has caused 300,000 Israelis to evacuate their homes. The economy is shut down. This is war.

You want Israel to stop? Israel has every moral, legal and ethical right to utterly wipe all Hamas fighters from the face of the earth. Those who call for a cease-fire are naïve appeasers. Appeasement is weakness; that leads to more violence. There was no cease-fire with Nazi Germany. The Nazis had to be destroyed to rid the world of that evil.

The Hamas massacre has awakened haters of Jews worldwide who somehow think the end is near for Jews. Humanity must triumph over evil, with no pause to allow evil to escape.

Hamas must be crushed

The West must keep its knee off Israel’s neck.

Israel has made errors in the past at the urging of the West. It signed the Oslo Accords in 1993. Why was Shimon Peres anxious to have Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and the terrorist leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Yasser Arafat, shake hands in front of President Bill Clinton? One might speculate that Arafat’s propaganda success was a precursor to 9/11.

Oslo brought the PLO and its weapons into Israel. A neophyte diplomat could have foreseen that Jews and Arabs would die.

Hamas launched several wars against Israel in keeping with its charter, which calls for killing Jews everywhere. Invariably there are calls for a cease-fire. Israel is restrained and waits for the next attack from one or another of Hamas’s partners. Finally, on Oct. 7, it went too far.

Hamas’s barbarism shocked even its most ardent admirers. Thousands were butchered; millions mourn. Like the Taliban and ISIS, Hamas must be crushed. It must never again be allowed to poison the Middle East. Israel is prepared to defang the snake. Israelis and Arabs will pay with their lives. That’s the price of purging the world of evil. The West should support Israel — not call for restraint.

Make Hamas comply

Doesn’t anyone recall the Israelis’ condition for releasing supplies to Gaza? Release the hostages and supplies can flow.

How about pressing Hamas terrorists to comply with the Israelis’ demand for the benefit of both civilians in Gaza and the Israeli women, children, infants and the elderly?

Perusing the news

A wave of pensiveness swept over me as I read the morning papers, so I searched the internet.

Trump, the big lie and the steal. “Were there more votes than registered voters in a Wisconsin congressional district?” (No, there were not more votes than voters in Wisconsin). Moving on.

Edgar Allen Poe’s raven continued to rap and tap on my conscience. President Trump called dead soldiers “losers.” The 10,000 Allied fighters who died on D-Day were heroes, part of the vanguard to free Europe.

The knocking continued. President Biden wants to eliminate student loan debt. Windmills generate electricity unconnected to the power grid and kill thousands of our aviary friends. The federal push of EV’s is an economical and environmental disaster waiting to happen.
