Preliminary investigations into the tragic road accident in Assam's Golaghat district suggest that poor visibility due to dense fog and diversion of traffic to one lane for repair works by NHIDCL were major factors. NHIDCL regional executive director confirmed repair works on one lane and traffic diversion. The bus might have been overspeeding and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Transport minister sent a commissioner to investigate and an FIR will be lodged if NHIDCL is found guilty. Golaghat district administration is rectifying accident-prone zones. 132 black-spots were identified in Assam and measures will be implemented.
