Judge in Michelle Troconis case pushes back trial due to juror issue
The long-awaited trial for Michelle Troconis, who is charged in connection with the disappearance of Jennifer Farber Dulos, has been pushed back due to a juror issue.
Troconis’s trial was set to start Monday in Stamford Superior Court but will now start four days later on Jan. 11, according to court officials.
A last-minute hearing was held Thursday in Troconis’ case. The decision to move the trial was made during that hearing, according to records and officials. The change stems from the dismissal of an alternate juror, according to multiple media reports, leaving just two alternate jurors in addition to the six-person jury that will hear her case.
The juror was dismissed due to financial and employment concerns, reports show.
Final juror selected in case against Michelle Troconis; trial to begin in new year
Troconis faces multiple charges including conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution in connection with the disappearance and presumed death of Farber Dulos in 2019.
Farber Dulos, a writer and mother of five from New Canaan, disappeared during a contentious custody battle and divorce with Fotis Dulos. Her body has never been found.
Troconis was dating Dulos at the time of his wife’s disappearance and living with him in his Farmington mansion. Dulos died by suicide while charged with her murder.
Troconis is the first person to face a jury in connection to Farber Dulos’ presumed death.
Dulos’ attorney, Kent Mawhinney, is also awaiting trial on conspiracy charges in connection with the disappearance.
New alternate jurors will be selected this week in court in Stamford, according to reports.
Troconis will face a jury on Jan. 11 starting at 10 a.m. Her trial is expected to last through early March, according to Judge Kevin A. Randolph.
