I got a week’s worth of luxury puddings for 5p at Sainsbury’s’ – shoppers loose their minds over ‘extreme’ discounts
SHOPPERS have lost their minds over “extreme” discounts such as a week’s worth of Sainsbury’s luxury puddings for just 5p.
The luxury pudding offer is just one of many astonishing discounts posted to Facebook group B&M Bargains, Extreme Money Saving Deals and More.
One customer posted a receipt showing how they bought the supply of luxury puddings for just 5p.
The famous chain recently slashed the price of different cheeses down to just 19p.
Bargain hunters were thrilled with the reductions and many have taken to social media to show off their huge hauls of sale goodies.
One shopper said said: “Best 20p I’ve spent in a long time, these were 1p each from Sainsbury’s.”
And the retailer is switching 11 of its own-brand mushroom punnets from plastic to cardboard by the end of the month.
Its bySainsbury’s and SO Organic mushrooms already have paper bases, but the latest move means all 13 of its own-brand mushroom lines will be easier to recycle by the end of January.
Sainsbury’s said the move will prevent over 775 tonnes of plastic heading into landfill each year.
It added it was the first UK supermarket to roll out cardboard punnets on all own-brand mushrooms.
Claire Hughes, director of product and innovation, said the retailer was “delighted” to be implementing the change.
The 13 mushroom products will still have plastic film wrapped around them, which can be recycled at the front of all Sainsbury’s stores.
It comes after the retailer switched the packaging on all of its own-brand toilet and kitchen rolls from plastic to paper in September.
