BBC Breakfast fan complains to show about clock blunder – but is forced to apologise as it seriously backfires
A BBC BREAKFAST fan was forced to apologise after their complaint about its clock seriously backfired.
The flagship morning programme continued today with Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell.
Sarah was standing in for Sally Nugent, who has been missing from the iconic red sofa since New Year’s Day.
But as she and Jon, 54, brought BBC Breakfast viewers the latest news, one fan had a big complaint.
The pair revealed a man named Les wrote in to say their on-screen clock was displaying the wrong time.
However, in an embarrassing follow up message, Les apologised and said he had been pranked by his family.
Reading out his email live on air, Jon said: “Les, who emailed earlier to complain about the fact that the time was wrong on the screen and said we’d got it wrong, he’s just emailed back.”
Les said in the email: “Ignore that last email, one of my grandchildren paused the TV for a while, I think they wanted to get out of going to school.”
Jon replied: “Busted! You’ve got to go to school.”
Meanwhile, Sky News has announced a huge shake-up to their morning offering as they rival BBC Breakfast.
Hosted by Kay Burley, their breakfast programme will now run from 6am until 10am.
In a further move, they’ve poached BBC News reporter Gareth Barlow, 33, who will become a permanent fixture.
