LeBron James to be featured in new Netflix series
A new Netflix documentary series modeled after its NFL “Quarterback” show will feature LeBron James and other NBA stars.
There are plenty of fantastic basketball documentaries to choose from on Netflix, from the Kobe Bryant featured ‘The Redeem Team,’ the 90s Bulls series ‘The Last Dance’ and serious topics such as the Untold episode ‘Malice at The Palace.’
It looks like LeBron James will be adding himself to the options available on the streaming site, as reported by Shams Charania, Netflix is creating an NBA documentary series akin to its “Quarterback” show and will focus on five players: James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, and Domantas Sabonis.

Fans have widely loved the NFL series given its in-depth look at being a quarterback in the NFL and the access the series gets, allowing fans a level of coverage never before available.
If the NBA version of this gets the same amount of access and honesty from its players, this series will likely be a success.
James is one of the most famous figures not just for the Lakers but in all of sports. His basketball genius has never been questioned but has rarely been broken down. If we get an open, honest, even vulnerable James, that will demonstrate a level of intimacy fans have never had access to from the King, given how calculated he has been with media coverage.
It looks like James will have a hand in this series, as reported by Charania, James’ production team, along with Barack Obama’s Higher Ground Productions and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, who will collaborate to produce the show.

While James having a say is likely why he agreed to this series, hopefully, the producers can strike a balance and give us a new perspective on the 39-year-old star. ‘The Last Dance’ had to deal with this issue with its star, Michael Jordan and seemed to toe the line between being a glorified Jordan ad and telling the true stories of what occurred as any good documentary should.
There is no timeline yet for this new series, but taping has already begun and given the name and the vision described, it appears that NBA fans are in for a treat when this series drops.
