In the clip, he showed that the white walls in the front room were covered in black mould and shared his hacks to get rid of it for good.
He penned: “Landlord lost tenants because of the mould.
“He asked for some help.”
The front room was covered from ceiling to the walks in thick black mould that had clearly not been treated for ages.
The first step was to remove the black mould – the painting pro used a mould and mildew remover and scrubbed the walls clean.
While this will get rid of the black mould, it won’t prevent it from coming back so he went with two other products once the walls were dry.
He then used a Primer and Sealer paint from Zinsser which helps remove stains and prep the wall for painting.
Lastly, the painting whizz went in with a mould-resistant paint to stop it from coming back.
Mould-resistant paint can work in two ways – some anti mould paints containing biocides that kill mould growth, while other paints contain advanced technology that prevents the moisture that leads to mould from gathering, reports Painters World.
The painting expert used DryZone paint as the last layer which you can buy from Toolstation for £26.99 – but there is a cheaper alternative.
Zinsser mould-resistant paint is currently on offer for just £16.67 at Toolstation.
The website states: “Zinsser mould-resistant paint excels in areas of persistent high humidity, frequent temperature changes or poor air circulation.
“It contains a biocide that protects the dried coating against fungal degradation – the paint’s film is designed to resist cracking, peeling and blistering for up to seven years before first maintenance.”
The clip posted to the TikTok account @paintmywalls.co.uk soon went viral with over 650k views and 4,500 likes.
People were quick to take to the comments sharing their thoughts and thanking the pro for his advice.
One person wrote: “DryZone is good I bought small bottle to mix with paint, it’s been over a year and no mould in corners.”
Another commented: “Good job boy!!”
“123 is not recommended for mould. You need 123 plus, coverstain or bin,” penned a third.
“According to their technical data sheet this is their best product for anti mould. For years I was using oil base from Zinser and never had issues,” said the painting pro.
