India's spinner Axar Patel requested to wear a glove on one hand while bowling in the first match of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, due the extreme cold conditions in Mohali. The umpire declined the request, leaving left-arm spinner Patel to continue without the added protection. Despite the cold conditions, Patel performed well, taking two wickets and conceding 23 runs in four overs. He later explained why he asked for the gloves to the umpire.
