‘Why’s it always me’ cries shopper as she gets HANDBAG stuck through her nose in freak accident and ends up in hospital
A BEAUTY salon boss was forced to go to hospital after a freak accident led to her handbag getting stuck in her nose.
Kayla Robinson, 41, was left sobbing after she got the £30 River Island accessory lodged right in her hooter.
She attempted to cut it off but was bleeding and in so much pain that she had to get it cut off by stunned medics.
Kayla said: “Why is it always me?
“Nobody is in the least bit surprised because this kind of stuff always happens to me. My life is an absolute joke.
“I’m laughing now but I didn’t see the funny side at the time. I was bawling my eyes out about it.”
Kayla got the £30 crossbody bag as a birthday gift in October and was wearing it as she tried to take her dogs out for a walk.
But Ralphie, Reggie and River the French Bulldogs played up and were jumping out of the boot and into her car.
She was shouting at them to calm down and tried to pull up her bag when it became lodged in her nostril.
Kayla said: “I was just screaming. I couldn’t believe what I had done.
“If I’d tried to do that a million times before and after I bet I wouldn’t have been able to do it.
“But I think I was just so worked up with the dogs and did it with such force that it was stuck and wouldn’t budge.”
Kayla headed home and asked her cousin to help her try and cut the bag off with wire cutters.
But they were both worried that they might end up causing more damage than had already been done.
Eventually Kayla admitted defeat and agreed to head to the walk-in clinic at the local hospital in Blaydon, Gateshead.
But before she left the house she actually went looking for her bag, forgetting where it was.
She revealed: “That’s the natural thing for a woman to do isn’t it?
“I totally forgot that it was wedged in my nose as I was hunting through the kitchen looking for it.
“My cigarettes were still in there and I had to work out a way to get them out while it was still stuck.”
Kayla was forced to keep holding the bag up so it didn’t rip open her nose but tried to cover it up as she sat in the waiting room.
She reckoned everyone was staring and sniggering before she was finally taken in.
Kayla said: “I think I was everyone’s entertainment that morning. The nurses couldn’t believe it.
“They said they’ve never seen anything like it before.”
The medical team cut off most of the bag but couldn’t get the zip out so were left with little option.
Kayla said: “They gave me some gas and air and just ripped it off.
“I’m pretty tough but it was still sore.”
Kayla, owner of the Slay Beauty Rooms, feared having to call up her clients and tell them she had to cancel because she had a handbag on her nose.
But luckily she was still able to go back to work even with her throbbing nose.
Kayla said: “I was crying from the shock and pain and the surprise of everything that had happened. I couldn’t believe it.
“But I’ve not been getting much sympathy from anyone. My friends and family have all been rolling on the floor laughing at me.”
The team from River Island have been in touch and offered Kayla a replacement bag and a voucher.
Kayla said: “I think I’ll go for a handheld one next time to avoid any repeats. I’ve learned my lesson. I definitely don’t want to go through anything like that again.”
