Football Insider have claimed that West Ham United have now set their sights on Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, both of whom are rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Not many strikers across Europe have been as prolific as Gimenez and Guirassy over the last 12 months, with two strikers taking the Eredivisie and the Bundesliga respectively by storm.
Both players have been mooted as targets for Spurs over the last few months, with several outlets suggesting that the Lilywhites have identified the Mexican as a potential heir to Harry Kane (Daily Mirror).
However, it has been widely reported over the last few weeks that the Feyenoord star is likely to stay put at De Kuip until next summer (GiveMeSport).
Meanwhile, it was reported last month by some sources that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is Guirassy’s preferred destination if he is to leave Stuttgart this month (The Sun).
West Ham step up pursuit of Gimenez and Guirassy
However, Football Insider have claimed that both centre-forwards have now emerged as targets for the Hammers, who have stepped up their efforts to sign a number nine.
The report says that David Moyes is keen on adding reinforcements upfront, with both Gimenez and Guirassy being ‘long-term targets’ for the club.
The publication adds that the East London club are keen on signing one of the two players before the window closes and have already begun talks over the duo.
Spurs Web Opinion
I doubt if West Ham would be able to spend around £50m on Gimenez or if the Mexican would be particularly keen on a switch to the London Stadium. Guirassy is a much more realistic target for the Hammers, given his low release clause.
Any interest that Tottenham would have had in the Stuttgart star would have likely ended when Werner arrived through the door. However, Spurs might have earmarked Gimenez as a target for next summer.
