PPS, other schools cancel Wednesday due to ice storm
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Even before the ice storm arrived, schools around the entire region took a proactive approach to classes on Wednesday.
Portland Public Schools announced classes are canceled for Wednesday, saying it is the “safest decision” after consulting with the National Weather Service, which predicts freezing rain and temperatures until roughly 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.
KOIN -- Closings and Delays
Other area schools also announced that they will be closed on Wednesday.
Portland Community College will be closed Wednesday and all remote and in-person classes, operations and services are canceled. Lewis & Clark will also be closed, but George Fox's Newberg and Portland locations will open at noon -- classes will be held remotely until then.
Jesuit High School is closed on Wednesday.
Beaverton School District announced they will be closed Wednesday.
Reynolds School District will be closed Wednesday.
Oregon City Schools will be closed Wednesday.
David Douglas schools will be closed Wednesday.
Hillsboro Schools will be closed Wednesday.
Sherwood School District will be closed Wednesday.
West Linn-Wilsonville School District will be closed Wednesday.
At this time, some districts, such as the Evergreen School District in Vancouver and the Salem-Keizer School District are calling for morning delays without yet canceling the entire day.
